With a background of 30 years in the IT industry, his own IT services company and a strong personal interest in the Performing Arts when The Court Theatre approached him to join their Board of Trustees he was pleased to be able to bring to their management team some of his experience in Information Technology. He went on to serve on the Board for 12 years, the last 4 as Vice Chairman. When in 1997 they decided to build their own booking system he helped them specify what they were looking for, and then when there was no-one prepared to develop the system, set about co-ordinating a team of developers to make it happen. He has been doing that ever since.

PatronBase Spain is run by Alvaro Sarmiento, a professional with over thirty years’ experience in the field of performing arts, including significant roles in the fields of marketing, venue management, production, distribution and exhibition. In recent years his work has focused on the use of technology in cultural management, focusing his activity in ticketing and electronic marketing activities. Álvaro has studied Economics and Hispanic Studies in his native Madrid and has a Masters in Performing Arts Management from New York City as a Fulbright scholar.

David Leek

David has over 16 years’ experience of working within the culture and IT sectors. Having worked in cinema and live arts as well as for a large communications company, he has a good understanding of the changing needs of organisations large and small. David spent 10 years as a Box Office Manager and has also held a Digital and Marketing Officer role within theatre, as well as undertaking change management projects. In 2010 David attained his BA (Hons) in Business Management. David joined PatronBase in 2011 and has continued to expand his skills and experience of the product to help PatronBase users get the most out of it for their organisation.

Phill’s interest into the arts started from an early age as a Musician. Specialising in classical Trumpet, Phill graduated with distinction from Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and still actively plays in various ensembles in his spare time. His passion for music developed into an enthusiasm for other performing arts and in turn inspired a career within the arts sector. Phill has been working at PatronBase since 2012, having worked for a number of years in Ticketing at Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff.

Rob Walters

Chief Software Architect

Rob has been writing software since he was 15, and his interest in the Arts started even earlier, splitting his time at school pretty evenly between the theatre and the computer labs. Both interests continued throughout University, where Rob combined a BSc in Computer Science with Knowledge and Information Systems, with a full calendar of involvement backstage in student and not-for-profit shows across Cardiff. Rob’s interests include: – Software development, having started out in Visual Basic and now coding mostly in C# – Artificial intelligence, and the cutting edge of software’s capabilities – Agile software processes, helping software teams be more efficient and get more done – The Arts, in its many forms, especially Arts management, and of course as a regular audience member Working with PatronBase gives Rob the perfect environment to combine his 2 greatest interests
